Shared her story via our Facebook page, to which we were so happy to receive! It shows what can be achieved and the results are amazing!

“Hey there! I wanted to share my weight loss journey with you all. Back on April 30th 2015, I was on Plymouth Hoe buying ice creams for my mum and Grandma. Not for myself. As I walked back to the car a group of youths shouted awful, horrible things at me about my weight (I admit I was very overweight). This was my turning point.

That evening I signed up to My Fitness Pal and vowed to lose the weight. It has taken me over 3 years but I am now 9 stone lighter. This has been achieved by simple acts including setting a calorie limit and sticking to it every day (this worked for me although it won’t for everyone), drinking a LOT more water and walking. And walking. And walking some more. This now brings me to the #Walk1000miles challenge which is endorsed by Country Walking magazing and www.livefortheoutdoors.com.

They have a fantastic support group on Facebook, I have never met such lovely, genuine people (apart from my car club, but that’s another story). Walking for me is therapy, I get terrible anxiety, especially social and would never venture out on my own. Now I do and I love it. Walking has soooo many benefits, is free and can be done anywhere! I have reconnected with nature and learned so much about so many new places. I am constantly looking for new places to walk.

Please check this challenge out. It’s free! (Unless you want a completion medal) and most importantly, it’s fun. Yes, weight loss and becoming healthier can be fun.

I still have more weight to lose but thanks to MFP and this challenge, I know I will get there”
