Britain’s Fat Fight with Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall

So if you missed it, Cornwall Can appeared very briefly on the follow up episode of Britain’s Fat Fight with the lovely Hugh. (Incase you missed it, then check out BBC iPlayer)

Since the show aired on Thursday the 8th January, the response has been utterly amazing from the general public. Extra businesses are coming forward to show their support and wishing everyone well. We even got a brief mention on Pirate Fm.

But in all seriousness the response from the local community has been fantastic- with almost 150 people joined up since Thursday night! It’s refreshing to see so many people wanting to do so well and make a difference to improving their health.

So a huge welcome to those of you that have just joined! I can’t wait to see your progress over the coming months. I know we can do it!

So what’s coming up?

February 2nd is a date for your diary. We will be having our very own Cornwall Can hosted walk at Cardinham woods, Bodmin. So if your in the area then drop on by! It’s a great chance for you to meet others in the same boat and generally just have a goodbye old natter. More information will be on our Facebook group so keep an eye out for this.

Since Cornwall Can began, there has been many meetings to discuss the needs of people across the county. One area that we feel is neglected a little bit is diabetic support and we are working closely with the local Diabetes UK volunteer group to get a second one in place. It may take a little while but fingers crossed!

In the next couple of months there are a lot of meetings in place to discuss getting the right support for you all, including weight loss management and physical activities across the county. We will be working closely with the council to see what we can do.

We also want to support as many people as possible, so if you need some additional support then let us know via our email cornwallcan@gmail.com and we we see if we can point you in the right direction. The same applies for additional information.

The best of luck with your first few weeks!

We can do this Cornwall! I know we can!
